Ilocandia's Beauty

Ilocos Sur have been well known because of the different incredible things that you can only find here. It has been visited by tourists from the different parts of the world and sometimes they come back because they miss it. The good food you can try and the hospitality of Ilocanos. Now that we all know that Ilocos Sur has a lot of beauty and uniqueness, have you ever wondered how Ilocanos celebrate these?

We celebrate it for about two(2) weeks. This year, the different activities started on January 28 and lasted until the 9th of February. However, we always formally open it on February 2 as a way of remembering the Royal Decree that separated Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte. This celebration is called the Kannawidan Festival. Kannawidan was derived from the word "tawid" which, in English, Literally means inheritance. Ilocos Norte also has a celebration that is like this but they call it the Pamulinawen Fetival.
In this celebration they have various activities. They are a lot to mention but I will mention some that is definitely the highlights of this festival. Saniata ti Agtutubo, every town of Ilocos Sur picks a beautiful representative to join the said pageant. They also have this Vintage Car Parade, it was so cool for me because I really like some vintage stuffs, here they display cars that are old and even some new cars! They also have the street dancing competition, I'm telling you DO NOT miss this. This will forever be my favourite part of the festival. The efforts they put is not a joke. Also, they tell some folk tales and and true stories through a dance. And, of course how could I forget about the Kannawidan Fair located in Tamag, Vigan City. In the fair all towns of Ilocos Sur will join and they will showcase their town's delicacies and specialties. They also invite celebrities to perform next to this fair. Some sellers are also welcome but they prioritize towns in Ilocos Sur.

I hope that this will always be in Ilocano's culture. We shouldn't forget this for the next generation.

"Pandemic ka Lang, I Am Filipino"

The cases of CoVid-19 has gotten worse ever since its first cases here, in the Philippines. A lot of our countrymen has lost their jobs, families and a lot more. But there are also things that stayed within us, its our ' bayanihan'  or simply helping each other out in time of need. Our resiliency that somehow doesn't budge.      In the month of January, every single one of us has been informed that there was an outbreak that happened in Wuhan, China. In fact, there was one confirmed case already but we didn't really act fast enough. I am not blaming anyone I just think that we could've done better or more. The CoVid cases spread faster than you could imagine. March rolls around and almost every country was in lockdown. Everyone has stopped going to their schools and jobs (except of course our front liners). Everyone was asked to wear a mask, wear a face shield, sanitize, and to minimize gatherings. Everyone was obedient at first but it became more...
